We're so thrilled that this new grassy urban oasis is now officially open, providing locals and visitors with a place to meet up, hang out and relax! The new park includes different types of seating, trees and lawns, a new public toilet and artwork by Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie, honouring the area's rich First Nations history and culture. As a high-density and fast-growing neighbourhood, we're committed to creating more green space in Collingwood. The opening of Otter Street Pocket Park follows the opening of Collingwood's biggest park, Cambridge Street Reserve, in November last year. This project has been proudly delivered in partnership the Victorian Government. We're on a roll with capital works projectsWe’ve already completed 70% of our planned infrastructure projects for this financial year! This means we’re well ahead of schedule, with 50 completed projects spanning road and pavement revamps, tree root maintenance, upgrading pipes and drains, and much more. Approximately $5 million has been invested in road capital works to enhance and the quality and safety of our road network. Recent road projects include:
Answering your FOGO questionsWe’re introducing a food and garden organics (FOGO) collection service in July 2024 to reduce waste, recycle more materials and support Victoria’s circular economy! To keep you informed and help you prepare, we’ve gathered some of our most commonly received questions. ❓ Why are we introducing FOGO? The Victorian Government Circular Economy legislation includes a requirement for all councils to provide households with a four-stream waste service (glass, recycling, FOGO and rubbish) by 2030. This means no matter where you are in Victoria by 2030 all recycling will be the same. ❓ How often will my new FOGO bin be collected? Your new FOGO bin will be collected weekly. There will not be any changes to collections of your other bins. ❓ What if I don’t have enough space for an additional bin? The new FOGO bin will be a standard size of 120 litres. If you are unable to fit an additional bin on your property contact us to discuss your situation and we will try to find a solution.
