When families and neighbours take the time to plan together, it strengthens our entire community.” In the first 72 hours of an emergency, being prepared at home and at work can make a real difference. Three simple steps residents can take to be prepared:
Niagara Region Emergency Management is partnering with local libraries to offer a family-friendly emergency preparedness scavenger hunt during the week. Families and children can take part in interactive activities that teach how to build an emergency kit, make a plan and stay informed. As part of Emergency Preparedness Week, a national test of the Alert Ready system will take place on May 6 at 12:55 p.m. across Ontario. An emergency alert will be sent to all compatible wireless devices and smartphones. Residents can access preparedness resources, planning tools and emergency kit checklists on Niagara Region’s website. Media contactLisa Cox |
