We want to share some sad news for those of you who have not heard—the passing of Roofing Alliance members Scott Howard with Commercial Roofers Inc., Las Vegas, and Doug Jones with South Side Roofing, St. Louis. +Read more

 

Highlights from the past 25 years

1996 

  • The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress (Alliance) was formed.

  • Melvin Kruger, L.E. Schwartz & Son, Macon, Ga., served as the first Alliance president.

  • At the time the Alliance was formed, there were 81 Charter Governor members.

  • A total of $184,000 had been awarded in scholarships to 50 students.

1997

  • Melvin Kruger served a second term as Alliance president.
  • $842,912 in project funding was approved for a Gallup study regarding worker satisfaction in the roofing industry; Employee Satisfaction in the Roofing Industry: Quantitative Results was produced. Additionally, NRCA’s Roof Application Training Programs were developed.

1998 

  • John Miller, Western Roofing Service a Tecta America company, San Leandro, Calif., served as Alliance president.
  • At the April 1998 meeting, a total of $495,733 in project funding was approved for a media/image communications campaign; the creation of the Most Valuable Player Awards Program; and establishing the National Roofing Training Institute in the McAllen-Mission, Texas, area and Specialty Construction Academic Consortium.
