Building momentum to put children first

This edition of the Centre's newsletter is marked by progress. We can see it in the recently-legislated universal right to three days of early childhood education and care for Australian children, project funding to help policymakers and communities address child health inequities, and in our submission to envision a better mental health and wellbeing system for children and families.

But to close the equity gap for children within a generation, we need to take advantage of this momentum and push for action. On Thursday, we'll be joined by FrameWorks CEO Dr Nat Kendall-Taylor in a webinar focused on crafting messages that resonate and inspire collective action.

This edition features:

  • the launch of our 2025 Paediatric Professional Education Series, covering a range of topics across child development, behaviour and mental health
  • a reflection on twenty years of hearing screening with the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program
  • a Policy Brief series collating the key learnings from the Centre for Research Excellence in Childhood Adversity and Mental Health to prevent and mitigate the impact of adverse childhood experiences on children, families and communities
  • the fourth blog post from the Education and Learning team on ways of working to understand the broader context of children and families.
