Shawn Daly                                                            Chairman, West Hartford Republican Town Committee

Dear ,

First, I want to thank the West Hartford Republican Town Committee (RTC) for the outstanding work they did in recruiting and selecting a strong, diverse, and highly qualified team of candidates to represent our community this November. Because of their efforts, we proudly move forward with a slate that reflects leadership, dedication, and vision for West Hartford’s future.

Our Town Council candidates are:

  • Al Cortes

  • Dr. Gayle Harris

  • Ben Lewis

  • John Lyons

  • Dr. Jason Wang

  • Kyle Zelazny

And for the Board of Education, we are honored to have Miriam Bleich as our candidate.

Together, this team represents integrity, experience, and commitment to making West Hartford a safer, stronger, and more vibrant place to live.

Standing Up Against Hate

Unfortunately, last Friday, August 15, an incident occurred that serves as a troubling reminder of the challenges we face. While having coffee at Lox, Stock & Bagels in Bishop’s Corner, Town Council candidate Ben Lewis and Ari Schaffer, Campaign Manager for Miriam Bleich, were subjected to a vicious verbal attack laced with antisemitic rhetoric.

This type of hatred has no place in West Hartford—or anywhere in America. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms. For those who wish to view the video, it is included below, but please be aware that the content is disturbing.

On Monday, August 18, at 4:00 PM ET, Ben Lewis will be a guest on the “Reese on the Radio” show to discuss the incident and share how he intends to confront the rise of antisemitism in our community. I encourage everyone to tune in, call in, and show your support for Ben as he stands firm against hate.

Supporting Israel, Supporting Freedom

Last week, several of our candidates proudly participated in the weekly “March for Israel” rally. They not only attended but were also invited to speak, lending their voices to a cause that matters deeply to so many of our neighbors. We’ve included a button below that links to our website with more of the story and photos from the event—please take a look and join us in celebrating their leadership.

Campaign in Motion

The campaign season is officially underway, and we are hard at work:

  • Finalizing our campaign platform and pillars

  • Designing lawn signs and palm cards

  • Organizing mailings and digital communications to reach voters across town

These efforts, however, require resources. To succeed in November, we need your help.

👉 Please consider making a contribution today. Every dollar counts toward ensuring our candidates have the tools they need to win.

In addition, we need volunteers. Whether it’s knocking on doors, making phone calls, or delivering lawn signs, your time and energy will make the difference. Please visit our website to sign up and do your part in this important campaign. Click on this link to VOLUNTEER.

Campaign Community Support Event

On Sunday, September 6, from 10:30am - 1:30pm, our candidates will be at the Stop & Shop, 1235 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford.  They will be hosting a food drive to support the West Hartford Food Pantry.  Please come out, meet the candidates and donate an item or a few items for those in need.

Join Us Tomorrow

Finally, I invite all of you to attend our RTC meeting tomorrow night. This is your chance to get directly involved in our campaign and in the democratic process that makes our community strong. Your participation and voice are vital.  Please click on the  buttons below to see a copy of the agenda and to RSVP to our RTC Secretary that you plan to attend.

Together, we will ensure that West Hartford has leaders who are prepared to serve with principle, courage, and vision.

Thank you again for your commitment and support. Let’s keep working together to achieve victory in November.

With gratitude and determination,

Shawn Daly
