Project progresses to tender

Kia ora

We are another step closer to making the State Highway 73 and Weedons Ross Road intersection safer and easier for everyone to use, with tenders now being called for the construction work.

The planning and consenting processes were completed last month, and the required property agreements are also in place. We have confirmed our construction methods to ensure work can be done safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to residents, local businesses, and road users. This, together with further work on the design, meant that this week we were able to advertise for tenders.

We’re aiming to award the contract in June, keeping to the timelines outlined previously, which include:
• Undertaking work on the stockwater races and utility services, such as power, telecoms and watermains this winter
• Undertaking the roading work over the 2022/23 summer
• Finishing the project by mid-2023.

We will make every effort to meet this timeframe. However, as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, there may be some disruption to the project programme, for example there may be difficulty with the supply of some of the required materials.

We’ll be back in contact when the contract has been awarded.

Ngā mihi (Kind regards),

The West Melton Project Team
