2024 CANTERBURY GOLF 4BBB CHAMPIONSHIP The 2024 edition of the Canterbury 4BBB Championships was played at Coringa Golf Club on June 16. Due again to the popularity of the event, a ballot was required to identify the top 50 men’s pairs and 14 Women’s pairs to compete in the Championship with the scoring reflecting the high calibre of players. Highlights on the day included a hole-in-one from Clearwater’s Rachel Eder, an individual -8 round of 65 from Bottle Lake’s Mitchell Redmayne, and a -7 round 66 from Clearwater’s Sam McGill. SAVE THE DATE EVENING DETAILS AND TICKET INFORMATION TO BE RELEASED SOON SIR BOB CHARLES GOLF CENTRE OPENS After years of hard work and anticipation, the Sir Bob Charles Golf Centre was officially opened to the public on the 16th of June. Features of this new impressive facility include a 340m dual-ended driving range and a sprawling 3,500m² putting green, equipped with cutting-edge TrackMan and PuttView technology. Dedicated to being an entry point to golf, having all the terrain and technology for players at amateur or professional levels, this facility has been developed to support and nurture the next generation of golf. CANTERBURY TDP PARTICIPANTS ENJOY A SESSION WITH KAZUMA KOBORI Former Canterbury, and NZ representative and now pro player Kazuma Kobori recently attended one of Canterbury Golf's Talent Development Programme sessions last month. The Rangiora local was able to pass on some invaluable knowledge and tips to our aspiring players as he engaged with the group undertaking an initial Q&A session followed by a demonstration of what one his practice sessions looks like. Click below for more. 2024 MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS The annual Men’s Champions of Champions event was held yesterday at Rangiora Golf Club in mid-June with representatives from 28 Canterbury Clubs competing. INTER DISTRICT 2024 CANTERBURY GOLF MANAGERS APPOINTED The 2024 Canterbury Representative managers for the men’s, women’s, and men's masters teams have now been appointed. Click below for more. JUNIOR MATCH PLAY The Junior Match Play Interclub Final was held at Waitikiri Golf Club in mid-May. After 7 rounds of round-robin and semi-final action, it was Waimairi Beach who took on a Futures Canterbury Hub team in the final, with the Futures team prevailing 3-1. JUNIOR OPENS Our recent Junior Open at Avondale drew a record number of entries with a total of 78 players entering including 47 Div 1 & 2 players, 12 females, 13 u13 boys, and 10 9-holers. Despite the cold conditions on the day, there was still some impressive scoring with several sub-par rounds. NEXT JUNIOR OPENS Our next Junior Open events are now open for registrations. Excitingly, for those looking to play in our Hanmer Springs event, we will have 3 spots up for grabs for players to play in the NZPGA Seniors Pro Am Championship (PGA Legends Tour) in February next year at Hanmer. The 3 spots will be awarded to the gross winners in the below divisions:
