Hi ,

Welcome to the final Beckett List of 2023! We hope you have an enjoyable festive break and a happy New Year.

Find out how you can access support during the Christmas break, get energy saving tips, get involved with societies and sports in January, and join Creative Conversations Week.

GIVE IT A GO EVENTS

Want to try something new in January and meet other students? Get involved with Give it a Go. Leeds Beckett Students' Union have created a programme of free events that allow you to get involved with societies, sports or activities without having to sign up to anything.

There's really something for everyone! Browse their programme on the Students' Union website.

CREATIVE CONVERSATIONS WEEK

Interested in a career within the creative industries? Join Beckett Careers and Leeds School of Arts for Creative Conversations Week between 22-26 January. The week of events are aimed to support you in developing skills and getting advice from leaders in creative industries.

Join workshops on freelancing, learn how to connect your way to creative jobs with LinkedIn, and expand your network and meet with organisations which can advise you on your future as a creative practitioner.

CHRISTMAS CLOSURE AND SUPPORT

LBU will be closed from Thursday 21 December 2023 and will re-open on Wednesday 3 January 2024. If you need extra support during the Christmas break, please visit our student wellbeing webpage where you can find a host of resources available to you.

Both campus libraries are open 09:00-21:00 with 24/7 Library and IT support continuing via chat and phone.

ENERGY SAVING TIPS

As home energy bills continue to rise, it's important to consider ways you can reduce energy consumption to save you money - and the planet.

LBSU have put together some top tips for you to save energy at your student property.

REGISTER YOUR ATTENDANCE

From January, second year students will need to download the SEAtS app to register attendance before the start of classes at Leeds Beckett University.

All you need to do is open the app, find your upcoming session, and scan the QR code or enter the 6-digit one-time code shared by your lecturer at the start of your class.

BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR THIS CHRISTMAS

We know that you might want to celebrate the end of the semester, but not everyone wants to feel part of your festivities. Keep the noise to a reasonable level and remember that the university funds a dedicated noise nuisance service in the Headingley, Hyde Park, Woodhouse and Burley area.

The team operates overnight, every night and has stopped many gatherings and taken legal action against student households this year including seizing equipment and issuing substantial fines.

Also, don't forget your last bin day before Christmas, and please make sure your bin is on your property before you go home.
