Waverley Council Chambers,
1861-1913
The Municipality of Waverley was proclaimed by the Governor of NSW on 13 June, 1859. It’s hard to imagine what Waverley looked and felt like as an early colonial settlement, especially compared to the urban and densely populated environment of today. Remote and sparsely developed, the area was mainly used for agriculture and industry, with Bondi Beach run privately for cattle grazing! Read more about the first days of Waverley Council here.
