BB New Zealand Communication Kia ora "A King to Serve" This was the headline displayed on the New Zealand Herald's front page after the coronation of King Charles. Having watched some of the coronation service I was struck by the language from the Arch Bishop with the premise that the King served a higher power in God and to follow Christ's example in his service to the crown and the people. It was a powerful acknowledgement that the entire kingdom submitted to God and Christ was at the head. I was reminded of the scripture that says "Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" and here was a very public example of what that looks like. My prayer is that King Charles will be a great king who serves Christ and the people of his realm faithfully and he will go down in history as a good king. He has big shoes to fill. We know from the old testament there were examples of good Kings such as David, and bad ones like Ahab, so there is much at stake for the reputation of the monarchy, which millions still adore and follow. We serve Jesus as our coming King and look forward to his return, which promises to outshine any earthly coronation we may see, and will be an awesome spectacle indeed! In the meantime we must diligently work to serve and promote God's kingdom here on earth as we share the gospel through our movement and the churches we are associated with. Within our movement we also respect the monarchy and celebrate the King with a badge in his name. We are in the process of developing the new Kings badge for the end of this year and the award ceremony in Wellington at Government House in December. We have a planned an online Town Hall meeting to discuss the design and development of the Kings Badge as well as the Presidents Badge, which every leader within BB has been invited to, and if not the meeting details are below if you would like to join. Paul was part of BB for over 70 years and is a wonderful example of someone who aged, but maintained a youthful attitude and approach to life and the boys involved in BB. Our condolences and thoughts are with the Beaumont family at this time and may God richly bless you all and thank you for your service and the lasting legacy of the Beaumont contribution.
