Did you Know?  Publicizing student events is the BEST way to get the word out on PCP campus events. Did you know putting events on STP is also REQUIRED? STP is our primary way to communicate, build community and we use STP postings to populate the PCP events calendar (see link above).  Check the calendar before scheduling events so we don't compete with each other!  If you want to reserve a time/date on the calendar before you post on STP, email Mrs. Butler at kbutler@sju.edu.  - Dean Foote

 

New Announcements

The Importance of Financial Planning - Avoiding Making Costly Financial Mistakes! Ryan C. Hicks, CFP, from the Hick's Team of Financial Advisors will be on campus to make a presentation about financial planning on Thursday November 3rd at 1 PM in the ARC MPR. Pizza will be served. Immunotherapies Spring 2023 Elective! Have you wondered why CAR-T cell immunotherapy medications are called “living drugs” or why they are so expensive (one dose typically costs more than $500,000)? Curious about JAK inhibitors, programmed death inhibitors, or oncolytic viruses? We’ll explore these and other state-of-the-art immunotherapies in the PP321 Immunotherapies elective. This unique application-based 1-credit course, open to all Doctor of Pharmacy students, is scheduled for 10am-11:30am Fridays for the first ten weeks of the semester. No exams! Clinical Reasoning Spring 2023 Elective! Want to practice and refine your SOAPing and Clinical Reasoning skills? The 2-credit PP309 Clinical Reasoning course, open to all Doctor of Pharmacy students, is scheduled for 3-5pm Tuesdays. Each week features a unique patient case from a variety of patient care settings. The course grade is based on two open book patient cases and class participation. DIA Industry and Fellowship Event! This Wednesday, November 2nd, we're hosting Dr. David Zarif a post-doctoral fellow at Genmab. He's going to share his experiences at in pharmaceutical industry and his journey in completing his fellowship. Join us in STC 237 at 6:30 to learn more, see you there! 10/31

ASCP WELLNESS DAY EVENT! ASCP will be participating in the Wellness Day Event on Friday, November 4, from 12PM to 2PM in the ARC MPR. At the event, we will be doing an event on preventing falls among the elderly. In addition, we will be giving out Squishmallows and pharmacy badge reels for trivia questions. Trick or Treat Yourself to Some Candy and Registration Information!  Spring 2023 Registration is just around the corner! Remember, all students must register themselves every semester. In addition, we have transitioned to the SJU numbering system, so please make sure you familiarize yourself with the new course prefixes and numbers. You can find this updated information on your major curriculum checklist. Additionally, you can find General Education updates here. Check your Student Profile in the Nest for registration notices and holds. Your notifications and Registration Time will be listed in the drop-down menus in the upper right of your Studnet Profile. IPhO's Multidisciplinary Functional Event! Interested in learning more about what careers a pharmacist may go into in industry after pharmacy school? This industry networking guest speaker event is for you! The panelists at this event will share what their specific jobs entail, the do's and don' t of industry pharmacy, and how they got to where they are after pharmacy school. Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association: GRASP Night! Do you want to become an effective advocate for the profession of pharmacy and learn more about the legislative process and advancing of pharmacy? Come to PPA's GRASP Night on Tuesday, November 1st from 6-8pm at LLC 103. GRASP (Government Relations Advocacy for Student Pharmacists) is intended for preparing student pharmacists to become better advocates, communicators and leaders in the profession of pharmacy. The program consists of 8 modules, regarding pharmacy legislation, with an exercise at the end of each module in order to ensure complete understanding of the materials presented. With the completion of the modules, students will receive a certificate of completion and a GRASP lapel pin. GRASP is free to all PPA members. All attendees must be registered PPA members!!! Asynchronous, online courses in population health for pharmacy students! The Jefferson College of Pharmacy is offering a series of courses in population health. PCP students can take the courses and transfer in as professional electives. More information is HERE. Students are responsible for tuition and following procedures for transferring credits. DEI- Diversity Highlight: LGBTQ History Month! As LGBTQ+ History Month comes to an end, let's take an opportunity to reflect on the contributions and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. This month is intended to affirm the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to history while encouraging openness and honesty for those for whom it is safe to be visible and open about being LGBTQ+."Inclusion is how we unleash the power of diversity". The PCP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce wants to include more of YOU in our diversity highlights. Got something to share? Help Raise Money for PCP Scholarships! The office of University Advancement is currently planning the annual Crowdfunding campaign. They are focusing on six funds/ initiatives and one of those funds will be the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy Scholarship Fund! They are currently collecting student testimonials for our campaign. As you can understand, alumni and donors want to hear from students and learn about their experiences the most. You are all strong PCP students and active leaders on campus that are working hard, and your testimonials should be shared. If interested please fill out the form.
