Did you know we're building Block Homes too?
We are thrilled to announce that our local NGO partner, Classroom of Hope Indonesia, has built two brand new Block Homes for families in Lombok, Indonesia.
The home pictured here belonged to Pak Jumangse, an elderly man who lives with his wife and their 15-year-old daughter in the sub-village of Ngolang, near the town of Kuta in Central Lombok. While this area is rapidly developing, Pak Jumangse and his family live in poverty, and their home was in severe disrepair, with an already unstable structure that was made worse by the 2018 Lombok earthquakes. 4 years after the earthquakes, the family had been unable to rebuild their home.
With the help of Classroom of Hope donors and by using Block technology from Block Solutions, our local NGO partner was able to build a new Block Home for Pak Jumangse and his family! This home contains a simple bathroom and kitchen, two bedrooms, and a sitting area. A traditional septic system and toilet have been installed, as well as a modest kitchen bench with a sink. The window frames and doors are made from wood, and the roofing is galvanized metal.
This new, semi-furnished, and environmentally sustainable house has provided Pak Jumangse and his family with a safe and comfortable home for generations to come. And by using recycled plastic blocks from Block Solutions, this house helps us remove more than a tonne of plastic waste from the environment!

ABOUT OUR LOCAL NGO PARTNER
CLASSROOM OF HOPE INDONESIA
Classroom of Hope Indonesia (COHI) is a local non-government organisation dedicated to building sustainable Block Schools and Block Homes in Lombok, Indonesia. Since we formed our partnership in 2021, COHI has implemented the building of five Block Schools and four Block Homes and has built capacity with three local building contractors. COHI has also played a pivotal role in supporting Block Solutions Indonesia in setting up the first Block Solutions factory in Asia. Together we are pioneering this new Block technology that we hope will change Indonesia and other countries across the Asia Pacific region for the greater good of people and the planet.
