We will continue to work with our partners in innovative ways to deliver a comprehensive management program for the Reef, as well as celebrating the Reef Guardian School Program as it marks 20 years of inspiring future generations, and showcasing how we can all See, Love and Protect the Reef. The Reef is so exceptional, it transcends national boundaries. We are all connected by its importance for past, present and future generations. No matter where in the world we may be, we can all do our part for the future of the Reef. Inspiring future generationsOver 12,000 teachers and 350,000 students across Queensland have attended a Reef Guardian School since 2003. Did you or anyone you know attend a Reef Guardian School or participate in their activities over the years? We’d love to hear about stories that we can share and celebrate. Reef holidaysThe summer school holidays are typically a popular time for visitors to see the Reef. Our team are genuinely pleased with the attitudes and behaviours of Reef users over the break, and we thank them for following the Marine Park rules. Reef smart practices are so important in helping protect our precious Reef. We're recruiting!Managing a reef almost the size of Germany involves many moving parts behind the scenes. The range of professions and skills required is almost as diverse as the ecosystem we manage. If being a part of protecting the future of this world heritage ecosystem sounds like something you would like to be a part of, we would love to hear from you. Keeping an Eye on the ReefAs summer progresses, the Reef Authority continues to closely monitor forecast conditions and near real-time climate and weather observations, as well as collating in-water reports to build a current picture of Reef health. You can find the latest updates on our website. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority acknowledges the continuing sea country management and custodianship of the Great Barrier Reef by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traditional Owners whose rich cultures, heritage values, enduring connections and shared efforts protect the Reef for future generations. |
