TRIPLE CASH BONANZA & SPOT PRIZES

Following on from the popularity of these two initiatives last year, the Show Horse Committee will again be conducting the Triple Cash Bonanza and Spot Prizes at its shows in 2022.

The Triple Cash Bonanza is a random draw for a prize pool of $1,000 for all eligible EWA members. To be eligible for the Triple Cash Bonanza you must attend and compete at the Autumn Pageant, the Winter Gala and Horse and Rider of the Year. Please note that competing in a Newcomer event does not qualify as not everyone has a Newcomer.

You are eligible if you own any horse or pony which has competed at all three shows. It does not have to be the same horse or pony. You are eligible if you ride and compete at all three shows even if you do not ride your own horse or pony.

Your name will go into the random draw at the Show Horse Awards function to be held provisionally in November and you could win the top prize of $500, or one of four prizes of $125. Come along and support all our shows to be in with a chance for this great prize draw.

The random draw for Spot Prizes at the three shows last year was also a popular concept. One of our Committee members prepares these and they are drawn on the day of the show.  Listen to the public announcements and you could be the lucky winner.

BRIGADOON II SET FOR LAST WEEKEND IN OCTOBER

Please be aware that the dates for Eventing WA Promotions Brigadoon II have reverted back to the original dates pencilled in for the event.

The event will take place on Saturday 29 October and Sunday 30 October at the State Equestrian Centre. More information will be provided closer to the event.

WA FARM SHOP EVENTING ACTION HEATS UP THIS WEEKEND IN CUBALLING!

This weekend brings the eventing community to the wonderful town of Cuballing - near the Dryandra state, home to numbats and woollies - where once again our State's top riders will be putting on their best performances for the top spot in the WA Farm Shop FEI Eventing Grand Slam Leaderboards!

Originally held at Narrogin, this club were the first in WA to run an International 3 Star (Old Format) and in 2010 the club moved to the current grounds in Cuballing. Sheila Cook was the original instigator for the building of the course in Narrogin and along with her industrious committee this club would run some of the most talked about 3-day events in the state!

A member of the current committee still, Jacqui Early along with Kim and Jodie McKenzie were part of the team of people that brought the club back to life in the early 2000’s. So, make sure you say hi and thank you to Jacqui for her amazing commitment she has given to the running of our sport!

The exciting WA Farm Shop Grand Slam is the brainchild of the enigmatic Kate Baxter who along with her husband Derek, own and run their shop located at 24 Great Northern Highway, Middle Swan. Here you will find a solution to all your farm, property and rural needs. From fencing to fertiliser, retic to R clips, this store has it all. And with friendly service and can-do attitude we assure if they don’t have what you’re looking for on site, they will be able to source you a solution in no time.

The WA Farm Shop FEI Eventing Grand Slam is in its second year and has been designed to promote the highest levels of Eventing in Western Australia. The classes include FEI 2*, FEI 3*, FEI 4* and CCN 1* level. Points are allocated from 1st to 20th place on a sliding scale which makes it an extremely exciting leaderboard to follow.

WAYER was the first event of the grand slam but there has been some movement as this year there are some additional points up for grabs to those riders who took their horses east to compete at the recent Melbourne International Horse Trials, but will that be enough to hold back those riders who stayed at home and are ready to win the big points awarded for the ever sought after 1st place!

The current standings for each leaderboard are below but will we see some substantial changes and new names in our top three places after this weekend? We will have to watch and see!

We wish everyone competing at Cuballing this weekend the best of luck!

GET INVOLVED IN TREES FOR ANIMALS ON SATURDAY 3 JULY

Animal Aid Abroad (AAA) was pleased to attend the equine gastric disease seminar hosted by Tania Sundra (Avon Ridge Equine) at the SEC on 15 June.  Tania’s invitation allowed us the opportunity to share some of what we do with the participants and raise funds on the evening. Our thanks to Tania and the SEC for hosting such a well attended and successful event.

A huge thankyou also to all of the attendees who donated, purchased or expressed interest on the night. It was great to speak with such passionate animal lovers.

We heard some touching stories of how the Gidgegannup fires affected a number of EWA members during the evening. That is why we thought that our upcoming event in Gidgegannup might be of interest to EWA members.

This unique event will have two beneficiaries:
• the Gidgegannup Community from the revegetation of fire affected land; and
• the drought affected working animals in Africa, India and Nepal.

We are aiming to plant 4000 trees and raise $20,000 from this event on Saturday 3 July and another tree planting day on Sunday 7 August

Please let us know if you are able to help by volunteering your time to plant trees in Gidgegannup by Friday 1 July via info@animalaidabroad.org

Visit the Animal Aid Abroad website to find out more about our tree planting events.

You can also help by donating securely via our website or by contacting our Treasurer Yvette via yvette@animalaidabroad.org to arrange to pay by credit card over the phone or for bank account details to pay directly to our bank.

All funds raised go towards growing trees for shad and food crops for working animals affected by drought in Africa, as well as funding a bore, water troughs and buckets for working and other animals in India and Nepal.
