Work starting on Auraki Stream site
We reached another milestone with the repair work on SH4 Parapara Road earlier this year with the completion of the main physical work on the slip site near Upokonaro. Next year we’ll be laying down a second layer of seal to ensure the road’s finished to the highest possible standard. We’ll also be planting over the old SH4 alignment in autumn next year.
Over the past 2 years we’ve completed work on five major sites as well as continued to maintain the slip at Te Oreore. And work is scheduled to begin on the road retreat near Auraki Stream about 20 minutes south of Raetihi, following a site blessing with Ngāti Rangi, Te Korowai o te Awaiti, and Uenuku.
From Saturday 18 December we’ll be on-site completing project works and will return in the new year. If you’re traveling through this section prior to Christmas, please anticipate some short delays as the crew complete this repair work.
