SH76 Brougham Street upgrade

Preparation Work Notice

13 August 2025

Early work starting soon

Before the main project gets underway, we’re carrying out some early preparation work. This is an exciting step forward. We’ll be in touch again with more detailed information about how the project will be delivered - including how we’ll build the bridge, manage traffic, minimise disruption, and keep road users, residents, and our crews safe throughout construction.

What’s happening now?

We're potholing - We’ll be using a hydrovac machine to safely and accurately locate underground services. This process can be noisy, but we’ll do our best to keep things tidy and minimise disruption.

Brougham Street night work

  • From Sunday 17 August to Wednesday 20 August, between 6pm and 6am, we’ll be working at night to avoid peak traffic.

Collins Street & Simeon Street day work

  • On Thursday 21 August and Friday 22 August, between 7.30am and 5.30pm, we’ll be working during the day.

There is more information about this work here.

Impacts for road users and residents

  • Brougham Street will stay open, but one lane in each direction will be closed during night works.
  • Temporary closures of Collins and Simeon Streets’ access to Brougham Street may occur for one or two nights – detours will be clearly signposted.
  • Footpaths and cycleways remain open.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • A 30km/h speed limit will be in place around the work area.

We’ll keep you updated and share more details before the main project begins. In the meantime, if you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to contact us using the details below.
