![]() November 2021 ![]() President's UpdateHello fellow students and interested parties, Happy November! The SSCCC is continuing to visit colleges in person to hear directly from students. This past month, we have heard from students from Region I (Lassen College), Region II (Napa Valley College), Region VI (Ventura College), Region VIII (Santa Ana College), and Region VII (Los Angeles Valley College, Glendale Community College, Pasadena City College, and LA Pierce College). During these college visits, we continue to hear directly from students about their experiences in dealing with housing and food insecurity, lack of broadband and technology, and other challenges. We are also learning about unique barriers faced by student parents, students with disabilities, and first-generation students. The input from students helps the SSCCC understand the current state of our students and their community college experience. We look forward to visiting your campus and hearing about your experiences soon! This November, we celebrate the heritage and legacies of Native Americans and Indigenous Peoples while also acknowledging their current struggles both past and present. We have planned a social media campaign that covers various topics such as representation and culture. Please check them out at @SSCCC_Official. Resolution season has arrived! If you are interested in writing a resolution(s), now is the time. The SSCCC is hosting several webinars to help you prepare to create an effective and impactful resolution to present at the 2022 General Assembly. Resolutions are a direct way to advocate for students and directly influence the priorities of the Student Senate. See below in this newsletter for more information. Are you interested in stepping into state-level advocacy? The Student Senate offers multiple opportunities to get involved in advocacy. Several vacancies remain in the regions, as well as at the state level--read more information about how you can get involved below. As the end of the year approaches, the SSCCC remains committed to advocating for your success. Sharing your experience is a powerful way to advocate for change. Get involved in your local student government or participate in shared governance, the system needs us to stand up and speak up! In solidarity, President Chavez ![]() General AssemblyIt is that time again! The Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) each year holds an annual General Assembly.
