January 25, 2023

Intermountain Health held the first of three ribbon-cutting grand opening events this week on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at our new Horizon myGeneration Senior Clinic.

An Exciting Start to 2023: Clinic Grand Openings and Our New Brand

Dear Colleagues,

These first few weeks of 2023 have been quite eventful, and I have some exciting updates to share with you today. Earlier this week, Intermountain Healthcare announced that we are changing our name to Intermountain Health! While we are launching a new name and logo, our unwavering commitment to Nevada remains the same. We are here for our patients and want to help people live the healthiest lives possible – in fact, that’s our mission.

Over the coming months, you’ll see things start to evolve as we become Intermountain Health. From the change in our name to the signs at our locations, our new brand will roll out bit-by-bit. Most importantly, our caregivers will continue providing the absolute best care to our communities as we transform. Be sure to check out the article in this issue to learn more.

This week we also are hosting our official grand opening events for our three newest myGeneration Senior Clinics in Nevada. Our team of caregivers – including new providers Dr. Elbert Xu and Dr. Vikaram Gondara – participated in brief remarks, a ribbon-cutting and tours for the public yesterday at Horizon myGeneration Senior Clinic.

If you were not able to attend yesterday's event, don't worry! We have two more grand openings planned this week for the following new clinic locations. You are invited to attend the ribbon-cuttings, meet our care team at each location and take a guided tour of the clinic:

Ribbon-cuttings and tours:
Today, Jan. 25, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.: Ribbon-cutting event at 1 p.m., followed by tours
Sunset myGeneration Senior Clinic, 2891 N. Green Valley Parkway Henderson, NV 89014

Thursday, Jan. 26, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.: Ribbon-cutting event at 1 p.m., followed by tours
Whitney Ranch myGeneration Senior Clinic, 1520 W. Sunset Road Suite 100, Henderson, NV 89014

All three of these clinics specialize in primary care for those 65 years of age and older and bring new providers to our community. Our clinics offer a dedicated referral team, care manager and on-site navigator. Importantly, new and current patients are seen within two weeks of needing an appointment. To learn more about our three new clinics, visit this link.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we increase access to quaity care in our communities.

Intermountain Healthcare changes name to Intermountain Health

Intermountain Healthcare this week announced it has officially changed its name to Intermountain Health, reflecting an added emphasis on keeping people healthy and continuing to provide world-class medical care at its hospitals and clinics.

The name change was based on feedback by consumers, patients, and employees and their needs and expectations of a health system. Intermountain Health updated its logo to reflect the name change and its commitment to creating improved experiences and being a partner in people’s health.

Finding your ‘why’ in making a plan to be a healthier you in 2023

The start of a new year is a great opportunity to focus on committing to healthier choices and habits. But what are the best ways to ensure those resolutions stick? Primary Care Physician Dr. Elbert Xu, who joined Intermountain Health earlier this fall and cares for patients at the new Horizon myGeneration Senior Clinic in Henderson, Nev., says it should start with prioritizing planning.

“People don’t plan to fail, but they fail to plan,” said Xu. “We are very good at making a ‘New Year’s resolution’ regarding health, but the ideas we have to get there are often unrealistic – thus, unachievable.”

Ask the Experts: Memory Loss

Intermountain Health's Dr. Yvonne Teigeler recently joined KSNV’s Ask the Experts segment to discuss cognitive decline and memory loss. She discussed four things to look for: Recognizing people, difficulty at your job, forgetting names or faces, and forgetting how to perform tasks such as operating a coffee machine or tying your shoes.

If someone is experiencing these, she advises: Don’t wait to see your primary care provider, and if you are over 65, consider seeing a geriatrician. She also discusses prevention, such as exercising, playing a new instrument, and learning a new language, as well as considerations after a diagnosis.
