Motorcycling WA: fuelled by passion, powered by Healthway

"Kids quickly learn that what they eat and how well they sleep directly affects how they ride. Good hydration is crucial, especially in the heat. We talk about things like fuelling your body for race day, eating real food and getting enough sleep. And they listen because they want to be better riders,” Dan Robinson, Motorcycling WA Volunteer.

Motorcycling WA's community has been riding strong for more than a century. With Healthway's support, riders of all ages are learning how healthy habits fuel performance. From Mini X to the State Champs, we're backing healthy environments that are smoke-free and vape-free for every rider.

A big win for community health in WA

The Cook Government’s major amendments to WA’s tobacco laws have passed Parliament – a big step in protecting young people and strengthening public health.

These reforms introduce tougher penalties for illegal tobacco and vapes, new powers to shut down non-compliant businesses and faster, more coordinated enforcement.

Strong legislation works hand-in-hand with prevention – creating environments that keep harmful products out of our communities and away from children.

The circus brings colour and creativity to Kimberley communities

Healthway is partnering with Theatre Kimberley to bring colour, creativity and connection to young people across the Kimberley.

Through two culturally safe circus programs, participants build confidence, learn new skills and express themselves through performance.

  • Sandfly Circus - brings weekly classes to Broome with an annual showcase.
  • Dragonfly Outreach – artist residency in remote communities, using storytelling and performance to strengthen identity and wellbeing.

Because every young person deserves the chance to shine - no matter where they live.

Better planning, better health

The new national physical activity and sleep guidelines are here. And yes, getting 30+ minutes of physical activity most days, alongside 7–9 hours of sleep, delivers major health benefits.

What you might not know is that our neighbourhoods play a crucial role in helping people meet these guidelines. Healthway is working to reshape communities so healthy habits are easier to build into everyday life.

Good planning makes the difference, by building homes closer to services to support active travel and connection, limiting licences for harmful products and growing food locally to improve access to healthy, affordable options.

It's not just what's on the menu

Cancer Council WA has released the ‘It’s not just what’s on the menu' report, funded by Healthway.

The report outlines the worrying extent to which WA children are being exposed to fast food marketing.

It shows that children see this marketing at the school gate, on sporting fields, across public transport and on digital platforms - demonstrating how it dominates the environments they move through every day.
