The 2024 Carleton University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition Is On! The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) at Carleton is a university-wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research in an accessible and compelling way, with the assistance of only one static slide. Check out last year's competition here! The Carleton 3MT competition will be held in person in March 2024.

Carleton's Free Tax Clinic is Open for Students!Worried about filing your taxes this year? Don't be! The Sprott Tax Students' Association (STSA) is here to help with their annual tax clinic. To file your taxes with the tax clinic, you must first fill
out the tax clinic's client intake form. Once you fill out this form, STSAs’ tax clinic team will review it to determine the complexity of your tax return and whether it is within the scope of the tax clinic. You will receive an email indicating whether your tax return is simple enough to be filed with the tax clinic and you will then be given a link to book an appointment. Note: all appointments at the tax clinic will be held between March 25 and April 2, 2024. For more information, please visit the tax clinic's webpage. All tax returns are filed at no cost. Awards and Funding Internal Nominations for SSHRC Impact Award Due Jan. 23
Carleton’s office for Research Initiatives and Services (CORIS) is accepting nominations for the SSHRC Impact Talent Award. Valued at $50,000, the Talent Award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual who, on April 1, 2024, holds a SSHRC doctoral scholarship or fellowship or postdoctoral fellowship. This includes, but
is not limited to, a Canada Graduate Scholarship, Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship or Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Talent Award is given to an individual who maintains academic excellence, has a talent for research and knowledge mobilization, and has demonstrated clear potential to be a future leader within and/or outside the academic sector. Davis (pictured above) won the 2023 SSHRC Talent Award. Faculty, including graduate and postdoctoral supervisors, are invited to submit an internal registration form for an eligible trainee. Self-nominations are also accepted. The deadline to submit an internal

CAGS Workshop Series for Graduate Students and PostdocsThe Canadian Association for Graduate Studies is holding an Anti-Racism Response Training (ART) workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 from noon to 3 p.m. (ET) over Zoom. Ticket Price is $50.00 (no tax) and presented in English. This workshop is designed to build awareness around issues of race and racism in Canadian higher education. This workshop will introduce attendees to the concepts of active versus passive witnessing, and help to instil a better understanding of the impacts of racist encounters on both victims and bystanders.

Therapy Dog ProgramThe Carleton University Therapy Dog Program is designed to bring positive (or as we say, paws-itive) mental health and wellness supports to our community. All of our dogs are handled by professional staff and faculty members at Carleton, and their Handlers work to create welcoming and supportive environments that can provide low
