Western Business Leaders - Women in the West - International Women's Day A heartfelt thank you to all of the incredible women who joined us at the brand-new West Beach Surf Club Bar & Bistro for our annual International Women's Day event. This special edition of our Women in the West series focused on the 2024 priority theme of 'Count Her In', to consider the pathways to greater economic inclusion and empowerment for women. You could feel the energy and warmth in the room, with well over 100 women joining us for breakfast. It was the perfect venue, with uninterrupted sea views and dolphins on show! Adelaide Tamil Association - International Women's Day Our team celebrated International Women’s Day with the Adelaide Tamil Association at the Healthy Living Precinct. The morning was very fulfilling, celebrating women and supporting a local community group. Rachel of IntoJobs facilitated the ‘Start your own Business’ workshop and Selma shared useful resources. With 105 cultures already in our community this was a wonderful opportunity to empower Tamil speaking women and help them settle in our City. A special thank you to Devi Ashok, Women’s Wing leader of the Adelaide Tamil Association and Mayor Angela Evans for your help in organising this workshop. Adelaide Fringe 2024 Wrap-up & Business Impact Survey With March coming to a close, we wanted to reflect on the successful Adelaide Fringe season in our City! We hope you had a chance to visit and enjoy some of the amazing Fringe happenings. Adam Liaw and The Cook Up Live, which was hosted in the historic Woodville Town Hall, also won a weekly Adelaide Fringe award! Following another record-breaking year in ticket sales, Adelaide Fringe wants to hear from South Australian business owners and operators about the impact of the festival on the local economy. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and all responses are anonymous, unless you choose to provide your details at the end for further contact. Arts & Culture Grant Mural This mural, by artist Nicky Create, is almost finished on the corner of Park Terrace and Hawker Street in Ovingham. This bright mural was funded by an Arts and Culture Program Grant. Creating a thriving Western Adelaide is dependent on a resilient business community.
