DATE CHANGE: Operation OTC Medicine Safety General Body Meeting - Free Donuts!! Want to get more involved? Come out to Operation OTC Medicine Safety's first general body meeting to learn about upcoming events while enjoying free donuts on Friday, September 22st at 12:30pm in PTC140! OTC Medicine Safety is an operation under APhA-ASP that focuses on advocacy of the safe use, storage, and disposal of over-the-counter medications. At the meeting, you can learn about the different opportunities to sign-up for events throughout the semester, and the possibility of becoming a co-chair! Are you interested in Changing your Major within PCP? If you are looking to change your Major between departments (PharmD to Pharm Sci/Tox or Pharm Sci/Tox to PharmD) within PCP the due date for Spring 2024 is October 15th! You can review the requirements by following this link. Additionally, here is the link for the Change of Major Application. DIA GBM! Are you interested in the pharmaceutical industry? Attend the Drug Information Association (DIA) General Body Meeting on September 28th at 1-2pm in PTC 140! Take this chance to learn more about internships, fellowships, and a future career within pharma. We have great resources and opportunities to help you kickstart or continue you professional endeavors within the industry and hope to share these at the GBM. PCP-SSHP: What Is A Residency? Speaker Panel Wondering what you will be doing after pharmacy school? Do you have an interest in continuing your pharmacy education? Want to specialize in a certain area of pharmacy? If you are curious about completing a residency to pursue clinical-hospital pharmacy, then join PCP-SSHP’s annual "What is a Residency?" speaker panel event on Tuesday 9/26/23 at 7:30pm on Zoom. We will have multiple pharmacy residents from Cooper University Hospital and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center to explain what a residency is, how to apply, why they chose to pursue a residency, and any tips they might have! Special Lecture and event on Monday September 25th! Mike Castagna, BS, PharmD, MBA is a PCP Pharmacy and Wharton MBA graduate. Dr. Castagna is CEO of MannKind, a publicly traded pharmaceutical company that specializes in diabetes care. Dr. Castagna will speak to faculty, staff and student on his personal and professional life journey on Monday September 25th at 5:15 PM in IPEX 307. All are welcome but it is required for P3s. Also note that there will be an informal meet and greet with Dr. Castagna at 2 PM. Pizza will be served but an RSVP for the 2 PM event is required BY Friday at 12 Noon! (Room TBA). Sign Up For the VIP Case Competition - Industry Pharmacy Organization! If you are interested in gaining industry experience, join the VIP case competition to gain insight about what industry professionals do on a day to day basis. We are taking part in a national competition against other pharmacy schools! We will create a placebo drug plan from the phases of clinical trials all the way to post marketing of the drug. This looks GREAT on resumes and is a great talking point in interviews. Click on this link to sign up! P1 Survival Event for ALL P1 Students! Interested in learning more about the pharmacy modules and how to prepare for the upcoming years? Come out to the P1 survival event!! Information Night with Rho Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma! Come out to learn about two highly regarded pharmacy honor societies, Rho Chi and PLS. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic Heritage Month began last Friday, 9/15 and runs until Sunday, 10/15. To kick off the month, check out this post created by P4 teaching APPE Austin Blumetti to learn more about the month itself and various disease states that asymmetrically affect the Hispanic community. PCP would like to take this opportunity to celebrate our rich cultural diversity! To help us celebrate, we'd like to share stories of PCP community members of Hispanic heritage. PPA x APhA Operation Heart INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE NOW OPEN! In honor of September being National Cholesterol Month, PPA has teamed up with APhA's Operation Heart to give you all the opportunity to show off your creativity by participating in our cholesterol infographic competition for a chance to win a CUSTOMIZED PHARMACY MUG & PIN! In order to participate, please create a patient-friendly infographic raising awareness on high cholesterol and upload to this google form as an image (jpg or png) and preferably in instagram post friendly dimensions. Last day for submissions will be Saturday, September 30th. All submissions will be posted on @sjupcp_ppa and @sjupcp.operationheart on Monday, October 2nd and a winner will be selected based on the most number of likes as of 11:59pm on Thursday, October 5th. Blood Pressure Training with Operation Heart! Are you looking to get more involved with APhA-ASP and Operation Heart? Join us on September 28th from 1-2PM in STC137 for our first event! We will be hosting a blood pressure training event for students who want to learn how to perform an assessment or just want to brush up their skills. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to get involved with Operation Heart and want to learn more about some of the future events we have planned for the semester! Pharm4Me social media content needed to feature National Pharmacy Week! National Pharmacy Week is almost here (October 15–21, 2023)! AACP and Pharm4Me needs your help in kicking things off with a fun video montage. Pharmacy students and faculty are encouraged to record a short video wishing our audience a "Happy Pharmacy Week!" The videos should be fun, very short (e.g., 10 seconds), and can feature one or more individuals. Capture the video using a cell phone in a pharmacy school, practice, or lab setting. PLS-SSHP Summer Internship Panel! Interested in a summer internship? Attend the PLS-SSHP Summer Internship Panel on September 28th 2-3PM in the ARC MPR to hear from the 2023 summer interns about their experiences and future opportunities! These P2-P3 pharmacy students gained valuable experiences from pharmaceutical companies and health-systems this past summer. You'll get the chance to ask them questions, get valuable advice/tips, and network with your peers.
