This week marks Anti-Poverty Week, with this year's theme an invitation to act on poverty. Recent work from the Centre emphasises the critical relationship between financial hardship, caregiver mental health, and child development.

Key findings reveal that an increasing number of families are unable to afford essentials for health, like food, utilities and healthcare. Caregivers experiencing financial hardship reported significantly poorer mental health and slower recovery since the pandemic lockdowns.

As we observe Anti-Poverty Week, it’s crucial to recognise that addressing financial hardship isn’t just about economics; it’s a pathway to improving mental health and wellbeing for caregivers and their children.

Let’s work together to create a future where financial stability is within reach for all families. Access our resource guide to combatting child poverty, including our solution-focused webinar.

This edition features:

  • A new article from Dr Paul Prichard of the Education & Learning team on relational practice and why it is important
  • The Centre's upcoming webinar exploring data integration in frontline services to improve child and family outcomes
  • The launch of a short documentary celebrating the success of By Five's Paediatric model in reducing inequity in care
  • A reflection on International Literacy Day  in the context of community initiatives

and lots more!
