Recent work from the Centre emphasises the critical relationship between financial hardship, caregiver mental health, and child development. Key findings reveal that an increasing number of families are unable to afford essentials for health, like food, utilities and healthcare. Caregivers experiencing financial hardship reported significantly poorer mental health and slower recovery since the pandemic lockdowns. As we observe Anti-Poverty Week, it’s crucial to recognise that addressing financial hardship isn’t just about economics; it’s a pathway to improving mental health and wellbeing for caregivers and their children. Let’s work together to create a future where financial stability is within reach for all families. Access our resource guide to combatting child poverty, including our solution-focused webinar.
