Join us for our regular update on the B-cycle Scheme. This is a valuable opportunity to stay informed about everything B-cycle. You'll hear more about the Scheme Review Consultations which have taken place throughout July, and recent rebate changes, among other activities. This is your chance to engage directly with our team, ask questions, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Scheme. July 1 changes to rebate payments Rebate payments will increase for the upcoming financial year. The BSC Board has approved these increases to help offset the rising Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the growing cost of living. For collections, sorting and processing completed from 1st July, there will be an 8.4% increase across those rebate types.
A reminder to secure all button battery devices
Remember to do a safety check of any button-battery powered devices in the home such as toys, car keys and garage keys, especially in households with young children or pets. These small, coin-shaped batteries can pose serious health risks if ingested, including choking hazards and severe internal burns. Check that the compartments of any devices are securely fastened and keep them out of reach of children when not in use. Once they're used up, completely cover the button battery with clear sticky tape, secure it in a glass jar with a non-airtight lid or other fireproof container, and take them to a B-cycle Drop off point as soon as possible. The clear sticky tape makes the button battery less attractive to swallow or injest, can reduce the severity of internal injury if swallowed, and also reduces fire risks.
