Do they know what kind of questions to ask to determine whether information is credible? Who is represented in the media they watch? Do they know how to create their own media to have their say? We asked artist Sarah Firth to design our Media Literacy infographic to support teachers in exploring these questions and more. Discussing how to critically engage with all types of media helps build your students' civic understanding, and supports them to be active and informed in their communities, including online. Head to our Media Literacy Resources page for practical resources to encourage your students to critically engage with media, and to create their own media. You can also download a high resolution pdf of the infographic, as well as an animation that brings Sarah Firth's drawing process to life. The initiative attracted interest from diverse school groups across the country, from whole grades of Year 5 and 6 students, to multi-age Student Representative Councils and STEMbassadors. Leading Together connected classroom teachers with our museum educators to create tailored leadership experiences for their students. Grounded in an inquiry stance and incorporating visible thinking strategies the initiative has provided already to be highly successful. If you are considering how to support the young leaders in your school, or to build leadership and community within your SRC, school parliament or whole year level, please check out our Leading Together page, or contact learning@moadoph.gov.au to discuss how our expert educators can support you next year. ![]() Year 6 Leaders explore leadership in a Leading Together program this year.
