Different types of glass have different melting points, so we can't recycle different types of glass together. All other glass items go in your general rubbish bin. This includes broken drinking glasses, windows, mirrors, vases and glass cooking dishes. Your hard waste collection is changing We've heard you Merri-bek, our Hard Waste collection is getting at upgrade from Monday 1 July 2024! A new paid hard waste option will be available if you live in an apartment without a Council waste service and have not had access previously. PLUS cardboard and bulk green waste will be recycled through hard waste soon. Request a waste review for your property Do you need help storing bins at your place in a better way? Would you like to review the amount and size of the shared bins you have? Your Owners Corporation or alternative representative can request a review at waste@merri-bek.vic.gov.au. We will organise a site visit to review your property's waste and recycling needs, including seeing if it's possible to condense bins to maximise space. If residents at your building are unsure about what goes in each bin, we can provide signs with instructions.
