Get started with easyfundraising

Did you know that the leading supermarkets - Tesco, Morrisons, ASDA, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Iceland, and Ocado – will all donate money to your voluntary organisation, charity, social enterprise or CIC every time your supporters shop with them?

Whenever an online shopper buys groceries, the supermarket will send your organisation either a flat monetary amount (up to £5) or a percentage of what the online shopper spends. On average, just one person could raise £97.50 in a year for your organisation; think what multiple people could do! To get started, your organisation just needs to be registered with easyfundraising.

Accessibility Tip: #03 - Dyslexia Friendly Language

Did you know around 10% of people have dyslexia? Making your content dyslexia friendly makes it more accessible to everyone!

Plain English writing is a style of writing that is clear, direct and easy to understand. It uses everyday language, short sentences and avoids complex jargon and metaphors. Consider these tips for dyslexia friendly writing:

  • Choose short words over longer alternatives (for example, use 'then' instead of 'subsequently')
  • Use the active voice over the passive voice (for example, 'Sam drove the car' instead of 'The car was driven by Sam')
  • Avoid complex or foreign language phrases like 'a laissez-faire approach'
  • Avoid using upper case
  • Use commas instead of hyphens as this can interrupt the flow of the sentence.

Discover more about writing better web content for people with dyslexia here.
