We came together to recognise the collective efforts behind reaching this stage and set the tone for the remainder of the year’s delivery programme.

For employment and training vacancies please visit opportunitybermondsey.co.uk COMMUNITY GRANT FUND This year, The Bermondsey Project proudly supported two incredible community initiatives CHERRY GARDEN TENANTS & RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION (TRA) Earlier this year, Cherry Garden TRA received a grant to celebrate Bermondsey’s industrial heritage, bringing its stories to life. Their flagship project includes: A site-specific animated tour of Bermondsey’s industrial past. Heritage volunteer training and an outdoor exhibition at the Biscuit Factory site. Time Train, a new musical play highlighting the story of the Peek Freans biscuit factory, featuring original music and animations created with students from the London College of Communication.

Awarded funding in October, Bede House continues its long-standing commitment to supporting young people, individuals with learning disabilities, and those escaping domestic violence. Their project focuses on: Expanding volunteering and learning opportunities Promoting wellbeing and skills development Strengthening connections between residents and disabled individuals at risk of exclusion A key feature of the initiative is the enhancement of the urban garden at the Bede Centre. Through inclusive co-design workshops and regular gardening sessions, the space will be transformed into a vibrant, welcoming space for the whole community.
^ Carnival images BERMONDSEY CARNIVAL On August bank holiday Monday, the much-loved Bermondsey Carnival returned to Southwark Park, bringing together thousands of residents for a day of music, culture, and family fun. Greystar was thrilled to sponsor this event for the third year running. As part of the festivities, we hosted a stall offering biscuit decorating activities for kids CELEBRATING OUR FIRST BUILDING OPENING September was a special month for The Bermondsey Project as we marked the opening of our first residential building. To celebrate, we invited our Community Forum members for an exclusive guided tour of the new spaces. We’ve also opened the new pedestrian route linking Clements Road to Bermondsey Station, along with a new play space for the community.
^ September 2025 - Bermondsey Community Forum LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026 We’re excited to keep the momentum going in the new year! In February, we’ll mark another major milestone with the opening of the next building at the Bermondsey Project Continued delivery of jobs, training, and community initiatives, keeping local people at the heart of the project New residents and retailers moving Formation of a public art panel to help shape two new artworks that will enhance the public realm and celebrate the character of Southwark We’d love to hear your thoughts.
