Do good. Feel good.
JANUARY 2024 IMPACT REPORT Dear , Guess what's lighting up our new year? Three incredible Block School projects are kicking off in Lombok, tackling the urgent need for new classrooms and, in some cases, toilets. These new schools will ensure safety and cultivate optimal learning environments for students. Dive in below to discover the critical needs at these schools and the significant impact we're about to create! Tanjung 3 Junior High School Tanjung 3 Junior High School collapsed in the 2018 Lombok earthquakes, leaving no classrooms. Students initially studied in a government-provided emergency building. In 2019, nine classrooms were rebuilt, with two unfinished. Now, four study groups still use the deteriorating emergency building, with crumbling walls and leaky roofs. The need for six additional classrooms is pressing, though limited space allows only for four. The school also urgently requires new toilets. Join us in crafting a brighter chapter SMPN 3 Tanjung with four new earthquake resistant classrooms and two new toilets!
Jenggala 7 Primary School Nestled in North Lombok's rugged terrain, Jenggala 7 Primary School is accessible only by foot or motorbike, traversing a jungle path and crossing a river. The 2018 earthquakes took a heavy toll on this community, causing severe damage to the original school buildings. Four of the classrooms were repaired to a usable state and in 2020 the school received two temporary classrooms. The temporary classrooms are now dilapidated and can no longer be used. Currently, one class group is learning on a classroom terrace and the other class group is studying in the school warehouse. To uplift the spirits of this resilient community and foster a conducive learning atmosphere, we are on a mission to construct two new block classrooms.
Selengen 2 Primary School Selengen 2 Primary School faced devastation in the 2018 earthquakes, losing all its buildings. Despite some government aid, five study groups still lack proper learning spaces, with three groups studying in a challenging semi-opened building and two groups learning in a flood-prone emergency tent. This is no place for our devoted students. But here's the bright side: We're going to transform their learning environment by constructing five new block classrooms and four toilets!
These schools aren't just structures; they will collectively impact the lives of 738 students, reduce 98 tonnes of carbon, and recycle 16 tonnes of plastic waste. As a cherished part of the Block community, get ready for updates that showcase the remarkable transformation we're creating together! TOTAL BLOCK PROGRAM IMPACT
