Safer speed limits for Hope and Wakefield communities

New speed limits for State Highway 6 between Hope to Wakefield will come into effect on 30 July 2021.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has set permanent new speed limits following extensive engagement and consultation with the communities of Hope and Wakefield as well as road user groups, local councils and the NZ Police.

We thank all those who have provided feedback on the speed limit changes. The insights we received along with our technical review have helped us to make an informed decision on these speed limit changes.

For further information, including a map of the speed limit changes, the consultation summary and submissions, visit www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/sh6-hope-to-wakefield.
