Welcome

Welcome to the November Edition of the Women of NATE Newsletter!

I had the pleasure of attending the Women of NATE Women's Leadership Summit last month, and even after more than a decade in this industry, I was surprised by just how many smart, accomplished women were gathered in one place.

What impressed me most was how openly everyone shared their experiences — the successes, the challenges, and what they're doing to navigate this crazy wireless industry of ours.

Let's face it, wireless is in an interesting transitional period, and there's a lot of uncertainty about what comes next. At industry events, it's sometimes easy to gloss over the weirdness of telecom right now and what that means to our businesses. But we all know it's more complicated than that.

What made this event different was the willingness to acknowledge those realities, share lessons learned, and celebrate victories along the way. For one day, we were all learning from one another and genuinely rooting for each other's success.

It was encouraging, empowering, and a great reminder of why events like the Women's Leadership Summit matter.

As a new member of the Women of NATE committee, I'm excited to get more involved, continue building these relationships, and encourage even more women in our industry to join us. There's a lot we can learn from each other.

Writing Myself Back into the Story

Growing up on a farm, with two ex-police officers as parents, home life was unpredictable. Happiness wasn’t something any of us knew how to tend to. It wasn’t that we were unhappy exactly, but it wasn’t something we talked about or reached for either. Feeling things deeply was never the problem. Knowing what to do with those feelings was.

Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion

Trick Mirror is an enlightening, unforgettable trip through the river of self-delusion that surges just beneath the surface of our lives. This is a book about the incentives that shape us, and about how hard it is to see ourselves clearly in a culture that revolves around the self. In each essay, Jia writes about the cultural prisms that have shaped her: the rise of the nightmare social internet; the American scammer as millennial hero; the literary heroine’s journey from brave to blank to bitter; the mandate that everything, including our bodies, should always be getting more efficient and beautiful until we die.
