WELCOME TO PENN! The Office of New Student Orientation & Academic Initiatives (NSOAI) would like to officially congratulate you on your admission to the University of Pennsylvania! Although NSO will take a virtual approach this year, the familial feeling that is experienced during Penn’s transfer orientation will not fade. In collaboration with Penn’s Transfer Student Organization (TSO), we are designing specific programming catered to you and your needs as a transfer student. We understand that you are not new to college life but, you are new to life at Penn. Therefore heading into this academic year, our hope is that we provide all the necessary connections and support to make your adjustment to Penn not just educational, but enjoyable, while adhering to the State and University guidelines. Below you’ll find a welcome letter from TSO. We hope this kickstarts an engaged and enlightened Penn experience! Troy Majnerick Andrea Naughton Dear Transfer Students, The Penn Transfer Student Organization is thrilled to welcome you to our home, which is now yours too. Founded in 2011 by a close-knit group of students who saw the need to build the transfer community on campus, our organization has two goals: facilitating your adjustment to Penn and ensuring that you have a supportive community for the entirety of your time here. While we understand that you may be nervous about your transition, TSO is here to help make this process as smooth as possible. In the past, TSO has had many opportunities for transfers to interact and form connections both during and after New Student Orientation, including our mentorship program, small group conversations to promote wellness, and various social events throughout the year. The following are a few ways you can begin connecting with the transfer community before arriving on campus. Please fill out this form in order to join our listserv so that we can send you our newsletter and update you on events throughout the semester. We also invite you to fill out the mentorship application, allowing you to participate in our program that pairs new transfers with upperclass students. The Facebook page for your transfer class is an excellent way to chat with your fellow transfers, all of whom are going through the same experience as you. And finally, if you have not done so already, please like TSO’s official Facebook page, follow our Instagram, and feel free to take a look at our website if you are curious about how to get involved at Penn or what life at Penn may look like. We know that before you even step foot on campus, there will be many more questions you may need answered. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us individually or to email us at tso.penn@gmail.com. Finally, please always remember: you belong at Penn, and we are here for you!
