Remutaka Hill road users should allow extra time to travel over the hill, starting from Thursday morning 3 August.
The road beside the slump site on the Featherston side of the hill will be reduced to one lane to protect the site and keep road users safe.
Traffic will be managed under stop/go traffic lights day and night for an extended period until the hillside can be stabilised.
Traffic controllers will supervise the site and will actively manage the flow of vehicles during morning and afternoon peak traffic.
