Niagara's long-term care homes shine bright during "Holiday Glow Up" celebration

December 5, 2025

Niagara Region’s seven long-term care homes lit up with festive spirit on Dec. 3 as residents, families, staff and community members came together for the first-ever ‘Holiday Glow Up,’ a celebration that brought warmth and cheer to the homes operated by Niagara Region.

At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, all seven Niagara Region long-term care homes simultaneously switched on their holiday light displays, marking the start of the season with a joyful show of colour and creativity. Residents gathered with staff and families to enjoy the moment, many sharing in hot chocolate, music and holiday celebrations.

“We wanted this year’s holiday season to feel extra special for our residents,” said Paolo Varias, Director of Seniors Services. “Our teams truly went above and beyond, and the community’s response has been incredibly heartwarming.”

The evening set a festive tone for the weeks ahead, bringing light, colour and holiday spirit to every corner of Niagara’s long-term care homes and demonstrating the Region’s continued commitment to creating positive, engaging and supportive environments for residents in long-term care.
