Coming up this month

We have been concentrating on detail work recently, supporting our intersection improvements with elements such as footpaths and driveways needed by local businesses and residents. We've also been doing drainage work, including creating catchpits and manholes, which will next be integrated into our final asphalting work (see item below).

Coming up, we'll be completing the traffic islands on State Highway 10 as well as streetlighting and road signs on Maritime Lane and Waipapa Loop Road.

Also this month, we plan to start construction of the Whiriwhiritoa Bridge joining Klinac Lane and Skippers Lane. We intend to start excavations at the end of the month. A significant part of our approach includes protecting the Whiriwhiritoa Stream and its aquatic life, with valuable advice from Ngāti Rēhia as kaitiaki of the area.

Final asphalt layer requires overnight closure of Waipapa Road

The final layer of asphalt for SH10, the roundabout and Waipapa Road is scheduled to be laid in mid-February.

We will close the Waipapa Road roundabout approach overnight for the asphalting. We have advised our neighbours of the specifics and will ensure they have access into and out of their properties during these crucial works. Full traffic management will be in place to assist on Waipapa Road itself and a temporary detour will be in place to direct traffic onto SH10 and into and out of Kerikeri.
