Dear Re: Updated mandatory vaccination requirements I am writing to inform you about an update to the requirements for vaccinations for health care workers in SA. Under a new SA Government Public Health Direction, from 29 January 2022, people who work in SA healthcare settings need to have a COVID-19 booster shot (or evidence of a booking to receive one) within 4 weeks of becoming eligible. This applies to all allied health professionals, including audiologists. This follows on from previous SA Public Health Directions that have mandated COVID-19 vaccinations of all persons engaging in work or duties at a healthcare setting including allied health workers, regardless of whether they work in a patient or a non-patient area. This meant that, unless eligible for a medical exemption, health care workers were required to have:
For health care workers in public and private hospitals (refer “Phase 1 healthcare setting” definition) the first COVID-19 vaccine dose was required to be completed by 1 November 2021 and for health care workers, including audiologists in private practice the first COVID-19 vaccine dose was required to be completed by 8 November 2021 (refer “Phase 2 healthcare setting” and “specialist outpatient facility” definitions). Please stay safe and if there’s anything we can do to assist you during this time, please don’t hesitate to contact the office on 03 9940 3900 or email: info@audiology.asn.au.
