Whakaputahia ō whakaaro – Have your say on safety improvements between New Plymouth and Egmont Village.

Waka Kotahi is proposing SH3 safety improvements between New Plymouth and Egmont Village, including a median barrier, roundabouts, safe turning opportunities and removing right turns out of Junction Street (please see graphic below).

Locals know their roads best. So, before we make any changes, we want to hear what you think.

To read more and have your say on the proposed safety improvements, head to our website, email the project team or come along to one of our drop-in sessions listed below.

These safety improvements are being proposed as part of the New Zealand Road Safety Strategy, Road to Zero 2020–2030, which aims to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads by 40% by 2030.

As shown in the graphic below, 77 accidents were reported between 2016 and 2020 on this stretch of road.

Consultation is open from 15 November to 13 December 2021.
