Pride Festival

It's Pride Festival this week! This week-long series of events celebrates two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (2SLGBTQ+) identities in the Carleton community, while also bringing awareness and education about sexual orientation, gender identity, and issues within the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

An extensive mix of education and social programming is planned from Tuesday, October 10 to Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Inclusion Week

Participate in Carleton’s fifth annual Inclusion Week next week, from Monday, October 16 to Friday, October 20, 2023. The goal of Inclusion Week is to raise visibility and awareness of the value of human rights work and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). This year’s theme is Doing the work: reflecting, relinquishing, and reclaiming power in inclusion. View the full calendar of events and register on the Equity and Inclusive Communities website.

Significant Carleton Mobile App Update

Carleton Mobile has been updated for performance improvements and bug fixes. Users are strongly encouraged to update their app as soon as possible to ensure push notifications, including emergency notification system (ENS) function properly. In-Person Career Fair is Next Week

All Carleton students and alumni are invited to attend the in-person Fall Career Fair will give you the opportunity to establish and grow your professional network, explore work opportunities with 75+ employers and discover a range of organizations to see where you would be a good fit.

 

Launch of the Black Students Hub at 209 Teraanga Commons

The Black Students Hub at 209 Terannga Commons is a vibrant new spot where Black students can gather, connect, and find support within a community that recognizes and celebrates their unique experiences and contributions. Join Housing and Residence Life Services in celebrating the inauguration of this space on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Support Groups for Survivors of Sexual Violence

Carleton University’s Sexual Assault Support Centre is partnering with the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa to offer a closed support group for survivors of sexual violence. The group meets Tuesdays beginning Tuesday, October 17, 2023. This group is a safe space for survivors to listen, learn, and share with one another regardless of where each member is at in their healing journey.

 

PASS Mock Midterms

The Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) program, offered by the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS), is designed to help you PASS your courses with flying colours! Many of the PASS facilitators are currently posting mock midterm exams which students can use as study guides. Check out the CSAS website for the full schedule and the additional mock midterm take-up sessions.

CUSA By-Election

The CUSA By-elections are right around the corner. Visit the CUSA elections website to learn about the candidates and the referendum on the Unified Support Centre’s Emergency Essentials Assistance Program.

Voting will take place Monday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 18, 2023 via online balloting sent to the Carleton email (cMail) of undergraduate students.

 

Warming Up to Winter

Are you new to Canadian winter and wondering how to prepare? Join the Warming Up to Winter event to learn how to layer clothes and dress for the winter weather, as well as meet staff who are excited to share their tips about Canadian winters, and the best activities to enjoy during the colder months.

Enter ITS's Cyber Security Month Contest for a Chance to Win 

Cyber Security Month is back this October to spread awareness of safe practices while working and living online. Visit the Information Technology Services website for a chance to win a pair of AirPods or one of two Ravens swag packs and tips on staying safe online.
