Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

COVID-19 Update - Calvary The Brelsford set to re-open to visitors from tomorrow 5 February

We are pleased to inform you that the latest round of testing at Calvary The Brelsford has revealed no additional cases of COVID-19 amongst residents or staff. In line with Public Health Unit advice, the outbreak at Calvary The Brelsford has been declared over, and the home will re-open to visitors from tomorrow 5 February 2022.

Current restrictions at the home can be lifted, residents can move freely within the home effective immediately, and we can re-open to visitors from tomorrow subject to the below guidelines.

Sadly an additional three (3) residents have passed away at Calvary The Brelsford since the beginning of this latest outbreak. The three fully vaccinated residents were in their end of life phase before testing positive for COVID-19. Our thoughts are with the family, our residents and staff.

Updated guidelines for visitors

• Please note, we have adjusted our opening hours to 10.00am – 4.00pm, daily. We ask that all visitors vacate the home by 5.00pm.
• In line with Calvary’s recent visitor update of 29 December 2021, one single nominated visitor only will be permitted per resident during the home’s visiting hours. This is due to the continuing heightened risk of infection and will be in place until further notice.
• Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager of who this person is. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
• Visits must be limited to one (1) hour, and be held in the residents room.
• The nominated visitor is required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and will be required to wear a surgical mask for the duration of their visit. These will be provided to visitors.
• As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
• Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Booking a visit with your loved one

• Email judy.matten@japara.com.au to request a visitor booking.
• When emailing please include the following information in your email: requested date and time, name of resident/room number, visitors name and attached proof of your COVID vaccination.
• Visiting hours are from Monday to Friday from 9:30am with last entry at 3:30pm. All visitors must leave the home by 5.00pm.

Our staff will continue to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19.

Thank you to our residents for your cooperation during this recent exposure period. To our families, we are grateful that you continue to work with us so generously to ensure the safety of your loved ones in our care, and look forward to receiving visitors back into the home.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Cassaniti
