Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary GYMPIE VIEWS

Further to our last communication, I am writing to inform you that an additional four (4) residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Calvary Gympie Views in today’s round of testing. Two (2) residents reside in our Brennan Unit, and two (2) in our Lister Unit.

Due to the ongoing transmission within the home and to keep our residents and staff safe, we have taken the decision to lock down the home immediately to visitors. All residents are currently isolating and will remain in and be cared for in their rooms for now.

Our testing regime with staff and residents continues on Monday 14 February 2022 in line with Public Health Unit advice, and we will inform you as soon as the results become available.  We anticipate our next communication to you will be early next week.

Our families will have recently received Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, which took effect from 9 February 2022. Calvary’s Position Statement allows visits for residents in all circumstances, including when a home is experiencing an outbreak and is in lockdown. There are, however, specific circumstances where we must take additional precautions, such as locking down the home, to contain the ongoing transmission and keep our residents and staff safe. Thank you for your understanding.

As always, visitation exceptions can be made for residents receiving end of life care and for compassionate visits. Please contact the home manager to make arrangements.

Please contact the home to book a video call with your loved one, or if you have any concerns. Care packages for your loved ones may also be left with security. Please label them clearly.

Thank you for your continued patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Cassaniti,

General Manager Aged Care
