NATE Signs Onto Letter Submitted to China Select Committee On Tuesday, February 28, the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) held a hearing on addressing the CCP’s potential threat to America. During the hearing, committee member Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) entered into the record a letter from the communications industry, including NATE, advocating a fully funded Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program (known as “rip and replace” at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)). Biden Nominates Su for Labor Secretary On Tuesday, February 28, President Biden announced his intent to nominate Julie Su to serve as Secretary of the Department of Labor. Su currently serves as the Deputy Secretary of Labor, a post she’s held since July 2021. You can read more about Biden’s nomination of Su here. Senate Commerce Committee Holds Nomination Hearing for Biden FAA Pick On Wednesday, March 1, Phil Washington, President Biden’s pick to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), appeared before the Senate Commerce Committee, where he previewed his policies and ways to clear a backlog of FAA regulations. Harris Talks Affordable Connectivity Program Progress On Monday, February 27, Vice President Harris announced that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) has resulted in Americans saving half a billion dollars per month on home internet costs.
