Finance and Administration December Newsletter Message from Lorraine Dyke, VP Finance and Administration The countdown to the holiday break is on! I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for all the great work you have done this year. We have accomplished so much, including the launch of the Finance and Administration Strategic Plan 2023-2028. We were recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 employers for the second year and celebrated the 10th anniversary of Carleton Leader. The new student residence is taking shape and will add an impressive dimension to the gateway to campus from the Bronson entrance, as well as provide housing to more than 400 Carleton students. We have presented a significant number of initiatives to the Board of Governors committees, all of which play a critical role in keeping the university’s governing body updated on cyber security, risk management, ongoing capital projects, the budget, and the pension plan. Our division supports the academic mission of the university in ways that often happen behind the scenes but certainly do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do. As we get ready to close out 2023, I want to wish you a safe and restful holiday season. I look forward to seeing you in the new year! With thanks, Lorraine News Reminder: Holiday Closure Dates Please be reminded that Carleton University offices will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 through Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024 inclusive for the holiday season and will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. Other News Campus Safety Services Intramural Champions Campus Safety Services has been participating in Carleton's Intramural soccer league and they've been winning! The CSS team captured the league title in early December after a nail-biter of a 2-1 final. The win was secured with just a few minutes left on a unique effort by a member of CSS who found the back of the net. It was a great team effort and fun was had by all!
