Our construction site at SH1/Tarewa Road is temporarily shutting down for four weeks

Dear Customer

As you know the Prime Minister announced yesterday that the COVID-19 alert has been raised to Level Three and will become Level Four from 23:59 hours on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

This means we need to stop non-essential services for a period of four weeks. From today crews across the country will be working to close down Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency construction sites, including the SH1/Tarewa Road site.

Our priority at this time is to ensure that while we close down the sites, they remain safe places for you to travel through or near. We will keep safe traffic management in place, as well as appropriate environmental controls.

Throughout the closure you can be assured that we will continue to monitor the site and that safety remains our top priority.

You may have questions about what this closure will mean for when the project could be completed. We don’t have that information now, but we will keep you updated on this website and in future updates of this kind.

However, we can assure you that we remain committed to the SH1/Tarewa Road Improvement project and we will resume work as soon as we can.

Please take care travelling through the site and keep to the posted speed limit.
