Local people in Llangynwyd have been knitting, crocheting and patchworking fabric flowers since January to prepare for this event. Each flower is available to be sponsored in memory of a loved one. The Power of Welcome this Refugee Week: Bishop's Statement, Resources and Prayers![]() The Right Reverend June Osborne, Bishop of Llandaff, has released a reflection celebrating the contribution of refugees in our communities and criticising new UK legislation that undermines Wales’ commitment to being a nation of sanctuary. New Play Brings Betty Campbell's Story Home to Butetown School ChildrenA new play about Betty Campbell - Wales’ first black headteacher and a champion of multiculturalism – is coming back to Betty's hometown of Butetown, Cardiff, to educate school children on her story of acceptance. The one-woman show, called Betty Campbell - A Journey through Butetown, will take school children, including pupils from Mount Stuart where Betty was Headteacher, on a historical journey through Butetown, Cardiff, from the building of the docklands through two world wars and on to modern-day Cardiff Bay - all told through Betty’s eyes. Celebrating Heritage: Memories of Troedyrhiw to be featured in People's Collection Wales![]() Local people are being invited to bring along photos to the Troedyrhiw Heritage Day at St John the Baptist Church to be uploaded to the People’s Collection website. The aim is to preserve them for future generations and to highlight the importance of chapels and churches to local communities. Troedyrhiw Heritage Day takes place on Tuesday 21 June between 10am – 4pm. It is one of many events being held at St John’s Church as part of the Diocese of Llandaff week-long Churches Unlocked Heritage Festival. Be it a wedding, a christening or maybe another form of celebration. We want to capture and tell the Church's history from the people's perspective. “After the event, the images and stories will be displayed on our website to allow us and future generations to enjoy and appreciate the roles that churches in Wales have had in our society." Historic Building Maintenance and Repair Capital Grant Programme 2022-23Community assets that are listed for their special architectural or historic interest have an important part to play in the well-being and vitality of communities across Wales. Their viability and resilience as we face the challenges of climate change is underpinned by routine repair and maintenance. The Historic Buildings Maintenance and Repair Capital Grant Programme 2022/23 is intended to offer financial assistance towards the maintenance and repair of historic community assets, such as village and community halls, institutes, libraries, war memorials and places of worship that are open for wider community use. Syliva was well known in the diocese and gave so much to the Church in Wales over the years. Her funeral will take place at Llandaff Cathedral on Monday 4th July at 11.45am followed by a cremation service at Coychurch Crematorium at 1.45pm. Radio 4 Sunday Worship from Glamorgan Heritage Coast Ministry Area Tune into Radio 4 at 8:10am on Sunday for St Illtud’s Church in Llantwit Major. The programme explores the rich Celtic tradition that we have inherited at Llanilltud, reaching back over 1500 years, and how we try to interpret that tradition today in hospitality and welcome.
