What a busy month this has been for parents in West Hartford!

As many of you may have heard, at the March 15, West Hartford Board of Education (BOE) meeting, Dr. Gayle Harris, our Republican BOE representative, made a motion concerning the Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (SEL).  Specifically, her motion wanted transparency and open dialogue for parents concerning the Gender Identity reading curriculum being forced in the kindergarten - third grade (K-3) level in West Hartford Public Schools. 

For anyone who attended the BOE meeting, the Democrats were noticeably uncomfortable and vocal about Dr Harris's motion.  It seems like parental involvement in West Hartford school curriculum is just unwanted by the Democrats on the BOE.

We need your help now more than ever.  We need as many of you as possible to come to the BOE meeting this Tuesday, April 5, at 7pm.  The meeting will be at the West Hartford Town Hall, in the Chamber Room on the third floor.

We recently learned that West Hartford School Superintendent, Tom Moore, has demanded that all of his Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) direct reports for all West Hartford schools, come to the meeting to speak in favor of the gender curriculum.  This blatant conflict of interest and fear tactic is a clear example of how concerned the Democrats are about parental involvement in Gender Identity curriculum for young children in West Hartford Public Schools.

We also learned that administrators at Bugbee School sent out a call for help to parents to come to the BOE meeting in support of their curriculum.

We need a large number of people including your help to speak your mind and let the BOE know that this curriculum and these books are NOT appropriate for children in the K-3 level.  We need to have larger numbers volunteer to speak against this curriculum to offset the Democrats who are pushing others to speak in favor.

If you can't make the meeting on Tuesday, I implore you to please send an email to boardmembers@whps.org strongly opposing the SEL gender identity curriculum.  Please help fight for West Hartford parents and their young students now!
