#WATCH Opening for the Tirohanga Whānui bridge

Tirohanga Whānui, Albany’s iconic walking and cycling bridge, was officially opened on 28 February. Check out footage of the dawn karakia/blessing and the first official ride over the bridge from a group of local Pinehill School kids.

Work on new, safer underpass underway

We’ve started work on a new, safer path for pedestrians and cyclists under SH18/Upper Harbour Highway from Rook Place to Paul Matthews Road.

WHAT WILL THAT MEAN FOR YOU?
The existing underpass will be open during the construction of the new underpass. However, there may be some delays and a few nights where we will need to close it. We will let you know beforehand when that's happening.

Users are advised to take extra care during this time.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE EXISTING UNDERPASS?
When the new path opens, the old underpass will be closed off.
