The winter break is a great time to rest, rejuvenate and regroup for the remainder of the term. With midterms coming up, it’s important to be prioritizing both your coursework and your wellness. Carleton has many resources to help you stay on track and ensure you're taking care of your well-being. During the winter break, the university is closed on Monday, February 20, 2023, for the Family Day holiday. Classes are also paused from Tuesday, February 21 to Friday, February 24, 2023, but campus remains open. Resources to Support Those Affected by Earthquakes Carleton is concerned to learn of the devastation caused by the major earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria. We extend our sympathies to those experiencing fear and stress and to those who have lost loved ones. Join Us in Celebrating the Nideyinàn Building You are invited to celebrate the new name of the Nideyinàn building (formerly known as the University Centre) on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Carleton is situated on the traditional, unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Nation. In an effort to embody a significant territory acknowledgement in a meaningful way, Carleton engaged in a thorough consultation with the Algonquin Advisory Council and Algonquin communities in the region to name this central and high-profile facility which is the crossroads of all campus activity. The new name Nideyinàn (pronounced nih-DAY-in-nahn) translates to “our heart.” ![]() Now Accepting Nominations: Serve on Carleton's Senate ![]() Have your say in the academic governance and future of Carleton University! The Carleton University Senate is now accepting nominations for undergraduate students from all faculties to serve on Senate for a one-year term, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2023. The Senate is the highest academic body in the university, responsible for academic decisions of significant importance to both students and faculty. Registration for the Virtual Spring Career Fair is Now Open The Virtual Spring Career Fair is coming up on Wednesday, March 22, 2023! Learning and Writing Support Workshops and Events Join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) for one or more learning and writing support workshops and events this week! Sessions include: Strategies for Writing Academic Papers, Effective Planning and Time Management, Passive vs. Active Voice and Preventing Procrastination. The Life Skills 101 Podcast is returning for 2023, with a new lineup of episodes being released throughout the winter term. Reminder: Carleton’s Emergency Notification System Test on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 A test of Carleton’s upgraded Emergency Notification System (ENS) will be conducted on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 1:15 p.m. The test will include three types of notifications: campus computer screen messages, emails sent out to all Carleton University addresses and a push notification through the new Carleton Mobile app. To ensure you receive ENS alerts on your mobile device, please download the Carleton Mobile app on the Apple App Store or Google Play and ensure you enable notifications under your mobile device settings.
