Daytime construction closures are in place at multiple locations across Marlborough. Please refer to each area's section for further information. Kenepuru:
Tennyson Inlet:
All work is subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of unsuitable conditions, work will be rescheduled to the next suitable workday. Changes to planned road closures will be sent via Antenno. Sign up to Antenno here. In the French Pass, work continues on retaining wall construction and drainage improvements. On Croisilles Road, crews have established at a second site this week, whilst work nears completion at two sites on Croisilles-French Pass Road. All four sites are under stop/go traffic management. On Archers Road in Tennyson Inlet, crews continue work on a retaining wall under a construction closure. Construction closures are in place on Kenepuru Road, prior to Mahau Sound, near Broughton Bay and at Portage Heights, as progress is made on several retaining walls and culvert installations. Crews will ensure vehicles do not get stuck between closure points during the midday openings. Work continues under a construction closure on Moetapu Bay Road and Te Mahia Road. Titirangi Road is open to the public, minor works will recommence on 28 October under residents' access only. Retreat excavation has commenced on Elie Bay Road under a road closure for three days from Wednesday 22 October to Friday 24 October. On Port Underwood Road near Whatamango Bay, road sweeping and marking has been completed. Crews continue to work on a slip on Northbank Road under stop/go traffic management. A closure is required on Wednesday 29 October from 10am to 12pm to deliver concrete to site via a helicopter. Please plan ahead and allow for delays in these areas. There will be no work scheduled on the upcoming public holidays:

New road closures |

Please refer to each area's section for information on existing road closures on Kenepuru Road, Te Mahia Road, Moetapu Bay Road and Archers Road. During all planned road closures, emergency services will always be accommodated. Kenepuru Road - Mahau Sound On Tuesday 4 November, a construction closure will be in place on Kenepuru Road, Mahau Sound from 8am to 5pm, with openings between 12pm and 1pm. The closure will be approximately 3.5km prior to Mahau Road turn-off, when travelling towards the Heads. This closure is needed for a concrete culvert installation. Should weather conditions be unfavourable, Wednesday 5 November 2025 will be a contingency day. Access will be given to pre-arranged school traffic between the hours of 8.30am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm. We acknowledge there are other closures in place on Kenepuru Road between Linkwater and the Heads. During the midday opening crews will ensure traffic does not get stuck between closure points. Beyond these closures times, please expect delays of up to 15 minutes as work continues under stop/go traffic management. --------------------------------------------------- Elie Bay Road Works that were planned on Elie Bay Road on Monday 20 October, have been delayed due to trees blocking access to the site and the recent heavy rainfall. The construction closure is now in place from Wednesday 22 October until Friday 24 October during the hours of 7am and 5pm. The closure will end at 12pm on Friday 24 October. Work may be undertaken outside of these days and times, under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes. To view the current closure locations, please visit the CDEM map. On Croisilles Road approximately 1.2km before the Hope Drive/Wharf Road intersection, crews have continued constructing the pavement in stages. This week crews are progressing the shoulder trim and installing a new culvert. Crews have established on Croisilles Road, approximately 1.6km before the Hope Drive/Wharf intersection for the construction of a retaining wall and drainage improvements. Work has commenced on excavation and counterfort drains installation. --------------------------------------------------- Work continues at several sites on Croisilles-French Pass Road. At approximately 2km past Okiwi Bay, work is progressing on the construction of an H-Pile retaining wall and drainage improvements. This week crews are completing the installation of a new culvert and permanent anchors. Approximately 1.5km prior to the Elaine Bay Road turnoff when travelling North, crews have excavated, installed, and backfilled a new culvert, and pinned coconut matting to the face of the mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) wall. This week they are completing the pavement preparation. Crews have also commenced minor work, clearing slips and water tables from 2km past Okiwi Bay for 11km northwards. --------------------------------------------------- All sites in the French Pass are currently under stop/go traffic management, with delays up to 15 minutes at each site. |

Work continues at several sites on Kenepuru Road between Linkwater and the Heads. Approximately 2.5km before the Mahau Road turn-off work on a retaining wall is progressing. This week crews are installing sight rails and railway irons. This site is under stop/go traffic management with up to 15-minute delays. At two adjacent sites approximately 3.3km before the Mahau Road turn-off shoulder repair work and retaining wall construction continues. This week crews are installing a culvert and tie backs via a trench across the road, before completing retaining wall backfill and drainage. A construction closure remains in place until late-October, with openings on the hour:
Work may be undertaken outside of these days and times, including on Saturday, under stop/go traffic management with up to 15-minute delays. --------------------------------------------------- On Kenepuru Road, near Broughton Bay, work continues on a MSE wall and drainage repairs under a construction closure. The closure is in place until mid-December at the following times:
Work may be undertaken outside of these days and times, under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes. Work on Te Mahia Road continues under a construction closure from the start of the road. The closure has been extended until mid-November due to the volume of retreat material requiring removal. This week crews are continuing the retreat excavation, installing a culvert and preparing the kerb and channel. The closures are scheduled on weekdays at the following times:
Work will be undertaken outside of these days and times, under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes. Construction closures continue at Portage Heights, located from Portage Resort for approximately 1km towards the Heads, as work continues on several retaining walls. This week crews are constructing the pavement. Sealing is scheduled for next week, pending weather and favourable ground conditions. Closures are in place at the following times:
--------------------------------------------------- On Kenepuru Road beyond the Heads, a road retreat is progressing at Ohauparuparu Bay. This site is under stop/go traffic lights with maximum wait times of 15 minutes. --------------------------------------------------- Titirangi Road is open to the public. Crews will complete the remaining minor remedial work from next Tuesday 28 October, under residents' access only. --------------------------------------------------- On Elie Bay Road, approximately 800m from the start of the road, crews are progressing a road retreat under stop/go traffic management. Please expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Work continues on Moetapu Bay Road approximately 4.5km from the start of the road under a construction closure. The closure is in place on Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, with openings on the hour. Work may be undertaken outside of these dates and times under stop/go traffic management with up to 15-minute delays. The crew is demonstrating a high commitment to environmental practices, including an effectively functioning stream diversion and hydroseeding the exposed retreat. This week the gabion wall and culvert installation is being completed, crews will then prepare the kerb and channel. |

Work continues under stop/go traffic management with possible delays of up to 30 minutes throughout the day, when rock debris is being cleared from the road. Between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday crews will continue to remove slip material. 30-minute delays may occur between 9am and 4pm and 5pm to 6pm. These delays are unable to be scheduled, as they're dependent on the amount of rock material that drops each time. Outside of worktimes, the site will continue to operate under traffic lights with approximately 3-minute delays. On Wednesday 29 October a construction closure is required from 10am to 12pm to safely deliver concrete to site via helicopter. This closure is weather dependent and will be rescheduled to the following day should conditions be unsuitable. |

On Port Underwood Road at Whatamango Bay road sweeping and marking has been completed, and crews have disetablished from the site. --------------------------------------------------- Crews are continuing maintenance work on Port Underwood Road between Rarangi and Tumbledown Bay under stop/go traffic management. |

Work continues on Archers Road, approximately 2km from the start of the road, for the construction of two road retreats and a retaining wall. Crews are completing the augering and concreting of H-Piles and installing permanent anchors. Closures are in place on the following days and times:

Kenepuru Road is open to the public, with overweight and overlength vehicle restrictions in place. Reduced speed limit signage and temporary traffic lights are in place at Portage Heights and approximately 500m beyond Nikau Cove (when travelling from Portage). Both sites have a 30km temporary speed limit in place. Please expect minor delays and follow all traffic management signage. Vehicle restrictions remain on Kenepuru Road from Linkwater to the Heads as follows: Vehicle RestrictionsVehicles up to 12.6m in length, and 6 tonne in weight can travel on Kenepuru Road and side roads. To apply for a permit for an over dimension vehicle to travel on Kenepuru Road, email recovery@marlboroughroads.com or call 0800 213 213. Other recovery roadsPlease be aware that on all roads, works may be in progress and/or traffic management in place. Please expect delays and follow all signage and traffic management.
