A section of the Indigo Epic mountain bike trail currently has a detour in place, while Forest Fire Management Victoria carries out a planned burn. The trail is still fully rideable.

In the Sofa of Fools, Spookmeister Stephen Taberner (double bass, vocals) is joined by two enchanted musical souls in Jack Fitzgerald Sice (guitar, voice, things), and Coral Reid (fiddle and singings). The repertoire is largely comprised of Stephen's originals, which are known for their barely describable quirkiness and outright melancholia.

School holidays are here! Please keep us up to date with any changes to your tourism offerings so our team can best direct visitors through your doors.

Old Beechworth Gaol is running a new Family Tour every day these school holidays at 10:00am. It’s fun, interactive and perfect for curious little minds (and grown-ups too!).

Join the OBG's History Essentials Tour for a more in-depth glimpse into colonial prison conditions, notorious inmates, the gallows and more recent times, before the gaol was decommissioned in 2004. Additional tour times will be on offer throughout the school holidays.

Beechworth Berries is open each day from 8:00am - 4:00pm for some school holiday fun, with beautiful,  sweet, juicy berries waiting to be picked. Europa Gully Orchard is also open for apple picking on Saturdays 1:00pm 4:00pm and Sundays 10:00am - 4:00pm.

Dig into Beechworth: Australian Heritage Festival 2025

Explore Beechworth's rich history this autumn as the Beechworth History and Heritage Society presents "Dig into Beechworth" as part of the National Trusts' Australian Heritage Festival 2025.

On Saturday 12 April, join local hoteliers Ross and Lorraine Lucas at The Hotel Nicholas for "Negative. Positive." to discover Beechworth's photographic history ($15-20). Nature enthusiasts can enjoy the guided "Treestoreys" walks through Beechworth's historic treescape on Saturday 26 April and learn how our exceptional tree-lined streets and colonial-era parks developed.

History buffs will appreciate "Democracy! Digging for the Vote" on Saturday 3 May, exploring the goldfield miners' voting rights campaign that predated Eureka ($15-20). The festival concludes on Saturday 24 May with "Autumn Afternoon," a century-spanning vocal and keyboard performance at Christ Church ($35-40).

SURROUNDS exhibition launch

The highly anticipated SURROUNDS exhibition opens next Wednesday evening, bringing together an impressive collection of landscape-focused works from both regional and metropolitan visual artists.

This curated group exhibition, which alternates with the popular Bienniale show "Still Life Love," explores diverse interpretations of landscapes - both natural and built environments - through the unique perspectives of eighteen talented artists including Emma White, R'baahn Lah, Margaret Carey, and Erin Davis Hartwig, among others.

The launch event offers art lovers a perfect opportunity to meet the creators, view their works, and enjoy a glass of local wine in good company. All artworks will be available for purchase, with wine and refreshments served at bar prices.

The exhibition continues from Thursday 17 April through Sunday 27 April.

Golden Horseshoes Festival

Throughout the weekend, visitors can explore vibrant market stalls, sample delicious offerings at the food court, and enjoy an array of live performances both on stage and with roving entertainers throughout the crowds. Sunday brings the excitement of the Easter Egg Hunt for families, while the Police Paddocks will host thrilling rides and attractions from Gardner Amusements, all weekend long.

Open Gardens Victoria - The Rowe Garden

Regional garden lovers are in for an Easter weekend treat as Open Gardens Victoria showcases this charming private garden in Stanley, filled with vibrant autumn colour.

Owners Libby Kingdon and Michael Rowe started work on the gently sloping 2.5-acre site just four short years ago. The garden's rapid establishment is a testament to the ideal growing conditions of the area. Together the owners have created a low-maintenance 'park-like' garden, which will continue to become more elegant and interesting with the passage of time.

Drive Back In Time

The Beechworth Old Cranks Motor Club Inc runs the Drive Back In Time annually on the first Sunday in May.

Drive Back In Time will return to its original location in Ford Street Beechworth (which will be closed to traffic) with further vehicles and engines on display in the Police Paddocks. Altogether, approximately 250 vehicles will be on show. The Old Cranks Motor Club will also run the historic Crossley Engine in Wallace Park.
