Did you know Carleton University’s first library opened in 1947 on the top floor of its First Avenue location, after the school — then called Carleton College — outgrew its space in the YMCA building on Metcalfe and Laurier? It housed around 10,000 volumes in its collection before the new MacOdrum Library at 1125 Colonel By Drive opened its doors in 1958!
