The Quad: A Newsletter for Our Alumni Community 💭

Signs of spring radiate across campus as students prepare for final exams, incoming Ravens are making the decision to attend Carleton and the newest cohort of graduates gear up to cross the stage during convocation. As members of our alumni community, you likely remember those different stages of your journey, and the excitement that came with each milestone.

From attending the 2026 Kesterton Lecture, organizing your own alumni reunion during this year’s Throwback — Carleton’s homecoming celebration — to submitting a nomination for the Ravens Hall of Fame Class of 2026, there are many opportunities to stay engaged with your alma mater.

In this issue of The Quad, you’ll hear inspiring stories of fellow Ravens near and far, reminding us of the global reach of our alumni network. We hope you enjoy reading and reconnecting!

Throwback Thursday ⌛

Black and white historical image of the MacOdrum Library featuring small groups of students sitting at tables throughout the library, books open in front of them.

Did you know Carleton University’s first library opened in 1947 on the top floor of its First Avenue location, after the school — then called Carleton College — outgrew its space in the YMCA building on Metcalfe and Laurier? It housed around 10,000 volumes in its collection before the new MacOdrum Library at 1125 Colonel By Drive opened its doors in 1958!
